Framing

I consider framing before I print, I want it to be as simple possible for people to be able to frame my artwork. I sell some framed prints through shops and restaurants, my online prints are all sold unframed. I just don't have the capacity for selling framed prints from my current setup, but I wanted to offer some guidance incase it would be useful. I've tried and tested many different frames and have my favourites which I'm happy to share below. I'm always keen to hear of others knowledge, so if you have favourite frames please do let me know.

I am loving using Nielsen frames, which I buy from www.best4frames.co.uk. They are a great quality wood frame, are glass mounted and have hard wearing reusable fastenings on the back. I go for the Apollo Black which is a soft, matt black wood. They have many other frame options which I haven't tried yet, but I'm very tempted to try their oak frames soon. They have several sizes that fit a lot of my prints including my 20cm by 20cm prints, A4, A3 and A2 prints, my 50cm by 50cm Flutter print as well as my A1 80cm by 60cm Flock print.

When I have wanted a frame for one of my prints outside of Nielsen's size range I have used www.best4frames.co.uk custom picture frame service. By selecting the smooth matt black you're getting a very similar frame to the Nielsen range. This works great for my 23cm by 23cm, A5 15cm by 21cm, 20cm by 60cm and 30cm by 60cm prints that don't match with the standard sizes in the Nielsen range.

Let me share a few high street options for my prints too. Firstly for my 20cm by 60cm print is the Oxford Multi-Aperture frame from The Range, this is a frame for 5 pictures but if you remove the mount board then it works perfectly. Another is for my 50cm by 50cm Flutter print, you can get a 50cm by 50cm frame from Dunelm. Of course, the highstreet will have lots of options for my more standard sized prints too, but I thought I'd mention these two that can be a little trickier than others to source.

Of course, your local framing shop will measure and frame any of my prints so that's always a good option too.

I hope that information is useful, if you have any questions or even framing tips for me then please do contact me. Also, I love to see how you have framed and placed my prints, please feel free to send my photos and share them with me on Instagram.
